Australian Energy Market Commission
The Council of Australian Governments, through its Ministerial Council on Energy (MCE), established the Australian Energy Market Commission to be the Rule maker for national energy markets. The AEMC is currently responsible for Rules and policy advice covering the National Electricity Market.
Australian Energy Regulator
The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) performs economic regulation of the wholesale electricity market and electricity transmission networks in the National Electricity Market (NEM), and enforcement of the National Electricity Law and National Electricity Rules.
Australian Greenhouse Office
The Australian Greenhouse Office, part of the Department of the Environment and Water Resources, delivers the majority of programmes under the Australian Government’s climate change strategy.
Department of Industry Tourism and Resources
The federal government department responsible for energy and resources.
Ministerial Council on Energy
The MCE is the national policy and governance body for the Australian energy market, including electricity and gas, as outlined in the COAG Australian Energy Market Agreement.
NEMMCO - National Electricity Marketing and Management Company
NEMMCO is the national electricity market and power systems operator.
Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator
The Office of the Renewable Energy Regulator is a statutory authority established to oversee the implementation of the Australian Government's mandatory renewable energy target.
